The Mount Lucas retrofitting rig.

Four-day energy and retrofit roadshow in Tullamore

Offaly County Council, in collaboration with the LOETB Mount Lucas and SEAI, is bringing the Mount Lucas Retrofitting rig to Tullamore from June 4 to June 7.

The rig is a fully-equipped mobile NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building) unit that allows training on energy upgrades and retrofitting. It will be parked in the Bridge Centre car park over the course of the four days.

A range of formal and informal training sessions will be delivered from the mobile NZEB rig, while Tullamore Library will host NZEB Fundamental Awareness one day course (City & Guilds) and Age Friendly Climate Conversations, suitable for over 60s, with Jacinta Barrins on Friday, June 7.

The road show will advise participants on the principles and practices needed to effectively retrofit homes to reduce energy demand and carbon emissions while improving comfort and saving money.

Chief Executive of Offaly County Council Anna Marie Delaney outlined: "The four-day road show will provide an excellent opportunity for homeowners, construction workers, community groups and individuals to learn more about retrofitting and energy saving.”

The week provides several opportunities for the public to drop in for a chat with LOETB subject matter experts who will explain about the different types of retrofitting options available. Colleagues from SEAI will also be present to offer advice on grants schemes and energy efficient measures. All events are free of charge.
