Cribbin urges voters to "use your vote on June 7"

Edenderry Fine Gael Cllr, Noel Cribbin, made an impassioned plea to voters to use their vote in the upcoming Local and European elections on June 7, when he addressed a large crowd of supporters at his campaign launch in Byrnes, Edenderry on Friday night last.

"Only a little over 50% voted in our last local elections, so whether you are a regular voter, a part-time voter or have never voted before, I would appeal to you to take twenty minutes out of your day on Friday, June 7 next, and and vote Cribbin No 1 or your highest preference" said Cllr Cribbin at his launch.

In thanking his supporters, he pointed out that he has spent the past 25 years representing the people of the Edenderry Electoral Area, and has been advocating for support and funding for the area for large scale projects, many of which have been delivered in recent weeks.

Among the projects he has been advocating for, which have now "got over the line" is funding for the new Arts Space, Library and Performanc. "We started on this six years ago, and it took a lot of phone calls to firstly the owner of the derelict Tesco building in America and to convince him to come back to Ireland and talk to officials in Offaly County Council to sell the property to them, then calling a public meeting to try get support for a Theatre or performance area for those involved in the music, arts and drama who had no hall to perform in, then talk to Minister Ring to get support for the demolition and funding for a new library, arts space and performing area" he said adding that "it was all worth it when €12.2 m was announced for a fabulous new Library, Arts space and Performance area and I sincerely thank all who was on this journey with me , our CEO Anna Marie Delaney and her executive staff, my fellow Cllrs, our county Librarian and staff, architects and lastly Ministers Ring and Heather Humphrey’s for their support."

Cllr Cribbin also said he has been calling for North Offaly to be "a designated Green Energy area" and succeeed in having that proposal included in the present Programme for Government. "I was recently invited to a announcement by BNM in Dublin where they announced a €1.3 Billion partnership's with Amazon for a new Gas Powered plant at Derrygreenagh and a Data Centre with Amazon , exactly what I have been calling for and as they both said at the launch the first of many large multinationals to move to this massive 3,000 acres site at Derrygreenagh."

Her also spoke about the opening of phase 2 of the Edenderry Inner Relief Road, describing it as "an absolutely fabulous job."
