Moate's GLOR Youth Choir celebrating its success in becoming National Youth Choir of the Year for the second year running.

Glory days for GLOR, as Moate youth choir retains national title

Moate's GLOR Youth Choir has done it again, capturing the prestigious title of National Youth Choir of the Year 2024, for the second consecutive year.

The competition, which was held in Navan recently, saw 21 choirs from all over Ireland vying for the coveted award, but it was GLOR who stole the show with an exceptional performance.

The members of the Westmeath choir impressed judges with their remarkable harmonies, dynamic stage presence, and intricate and technical choice of choral works.

Under the direction of conductor Ciaran Brady, GLOR delivered an eclectic set of contemporary pieces, showcasing versatility and depth of talent.

The local choir also scooped first prize in the Liturgical Music Competition on the same day, coming out on top against some stiff competition.

"Winning this award once is a huge achievement, but to do it two years in a row is extraordinary," said Ciaran Brady. "It's testament to the hard work and dedication of our members, who have shown incredible commitment, passion and talent."

The National Youth Choir of the Year competition is known for its high standards and rigorous judging criteria.

This year's panel of judges praised GLOR for the choir's technical precision and emotional delivery, noting that the performance had stood out in a very competitive field.

After bringing the trophy back to Westmeath, the GLOR Youth Choir is already looking ahead to future performances and competitions, eager to continue this streak of success having also won a prestigious international competition in Wales in March.

For now, however, they will savour their well-earned victory and the honour of being named Ireland's top youth choir once again.
