Locals invited to work on new mural in Edenderry

A community art day will be held in Edenderry next week as part of Creative Edenderry's Biodiversity themed project in which Artist Sharon Reegan will paint a mural.

Creative Edenderry is a community based project which aims to connect, create and develop artistic and cultural activities to enhance the community engagement and spirit within the area.

The community art day will run from 11.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday, May 25 in The Cabin, Edenderry. The event will give the local community an opportunity to work with Ms Regan on a collaborative piece that will be displayed on part of the Grand Canal wall. They will be invited to paint part of the mural and to help with painting the collaborative pieces.

The theme for the mural is Biodiversity and the aim of the project is to connect the two sides of the town in Edenderry, from the Cabin to the Grand Canal Wall and to give the local Community the opportunity to take part in the creation of the piece.

Creative Places is run throughout Ireland in several towns and the Edenderry branch of the project is hoping to complement what activities are already happening in the town. It is supported by Creative Lives, Creative Edenderry, Arts Council Ireland, Offaly County Council and North Offaly Community Development Network.
