Local scratch card windfall

A lucky mother and daughter recently scooped an amazing €150k lotto win in Offaly.

The winning scratch card was purchased at Darcy's Gala Tyre Centre in Mount Lucas, Daingean.

Owner of the shop Tom Darcy said that the mother and daughter bought the winning ticket along with some ice cream on Saturday last around 3pm.

They validated the ticket with a member of staff who advised them to contact National Lottery support following their win.

The pair scratched the card outside the store after it was purchased but were confused when they went in to validate it before they received confirmation of the win.

Mr Darcy said that they were "shocked" and that they're very nice people so everyone was "happy" for them.

He said they were regular customers who enter the shop a couple of times a week.

Mr Darcy added that he has since received a notification that the money was claimed from the winning €7 All Cash Surprise scratch card.

The maximum that anyone can win from the scratch card is €150k.

Since the win, Mr Darcy remarked that a lot of people have been talking about it and that there has been a significant increase in the number of scratch cards being sold.

Gala congratulated the lucky duo and said that their "luck was shining bright" and thanked Darcy's Gala for selling the winning ticket and making dreams come true.

Darcy's Gala Tyre Centre has been in business for the past 32 years.
