Deputy Carol Nolan.

Nolan confirms she will vote against Harris for Taoiseach

Laois/Offaly TD Carol Nolan has declared she will not be voting in support of Simon Harris for Taoiseach when nominations are brought before the Dáil.

In a post on X, the independent TD said: “Let me make this clear by borrowing a phrase from the current Taoiseach, nothing short of an asteoriod hitting the earth will prevent me from voting No to making Minister Harris the next Taoiseach”.

Deputy Nolan was responding to an national media report that highlighted that a number of independent TDs had said they would not be supporting Minister Harris.

The new Fine Gael leader is set to be nominated for the role when the Dáil resumes on Tuesday, April 9.
