Warm tributes paid to Clara accident victim

A Clara man who died following a road accident in the town this week is being fondly remembered as a “proud family man” and an “absolute gentleman” with a “superb sense of wit”.

Warm tributes have been paid to the late Jeremy Goode, since the news filtered out and he was named locally as the latest fatal road accident victim in the county.

Mr Goode, who was in his 60s, died following a single car crash on the L2015 at New Road in Clara, shortly before 8.50am on Monday.

From Railway View in the town, the late Jeremy Goode is remembered in many condolences posted on rip.ie for his kindness and good humour.

One said he had "the great pleasure of knowing and working" with Jeremy who will be “sadly missed in Athlone bus station”.

A transport user described him as “a kind and helpful man, a proud family man, a man that was respected and befriended all”.

Other condolences referred to Jeremy as a great neighbour who was always smiling, had time for a chat and loved mischief. Another recalled "fond memories of happy times" working in Goodbody's in Clara.

He is predeceased by his parents Jim and Evelynn, brother Declan and sister Trudy (Cushen).

The late Jeremy Goode is deeply regretted by his loving wife Kay, daughter Lisa, son-in-law Graham, beloved grandchildren Lucas and Jamie, brothers Michael, David and Desmond, sisters Carol Heavin and Martina Bracken, brother-in-law, sister in law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

After reposing at his residence on Wednesday, his remains were removed to St Brigid's Church, Clara the following day for Funeral Mass. Burial took place today (Thursday) in the Monastery Cemetery, Clara.
