Over €2,600 raised for Tullamore church after latest break-in
An online fundraiser to support the Tullamore Presbyterian Church after it suffered a second burglary in just over a year has raised more than €2,600 to date.
The church at High Street was broken into last Saturday evening, resulting in damage being caused to the premises and furniture. Cameras monitoring the building were also destroyed, and cash was stolen from locked areas on the premises.
A social media post on behalf of the church expressed "sadness and frustration" at the break-in, which saw the thieves gain access "by breaking a locked gate and smashing a window".
This followed on from a previous break-in 16 months ago, and the church is appealing to anyone locally who might have video camera footage or CCTV footage of the latest incident.
It's believed the burglary occurred between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday last, February 17.
William Hayes, Minister at the church, organised a Go Fund Me fundraising drive to replace and repair what was lost, and to further increase security and surveillance on the premises.
"Any donation you can give to help us achieve this will be greatly appreciated by church and community," he stated.
At the time of writing, €2,627 had been raised from 48 individual donations. People can support the fundraiser on the Go Fund Me page here.
