Clendennen seeks development of Kinnitty village centre

Cllr John Clendennen has called for further enhancement for Kinnitty village.

According to Clendennen, developments are needed for Kinnitty village centre as it is the economic hub servicing the Slieve Bloom mountains on the Offaly side.

The Slieve Bloom mountains have benefited greatly in the past number of years from a multi-million euro investment, he said. This led to extensive development works, including the ongoing construction of the mountain bike trails and a designated pedestrian/cyclist link trail from Kinnitty GAA Grounds to the village centre.

Cllr Clendennen commented: "The investment has led to a significant increase in visitors to the area and has proven to be a hugely popular recreational facility for the local community."

He added: "'I am now calling on Offaly County Council to carry out further works and investment to ensure Kinnitty village centre is, without any doubt or question, identifiable as the mountain bike trails hub. My call includes investment in bike parking and repair stands, water fountains, furniture and public realm enhancement works."
