Offaly golfer wins tournament in Spain

Tullamore man Stuart Grehan claimed victory at the Toro Toro golf event in Marbella, Spain on Thursday, February 8.

He managed to scoop twelve shots in the three round competition and he finished on -26, followed by English man Harvey Byers in second place on -14 and fellow Irish golfer Karl McCormack in third on -13.

Grehan started off with an eight under par 63 on the 71 par course. He then received two eagles and five birdies before claiming two -9 62s in the second and third rounds.

On Wednesday, February 7 Grehan received two eagles and five birdies. The following day he added two more eagles and six birdies but got a four on the par three 12th.

He played 14 to 18 on 15 occasions, taking two eagles and ten birdies with three pars and zero bogeys.

Grehan is currently ranked 1,342nd in the world and at his best he was 1,197th. He won the Mullingar Scratch Cup in 2017 and following that became professional. The Offaly man also won the Palmares Classic VI in 2018 along with the K Club Pro-Am in Kildare in 2022.

Grehan has been a professional golfer for the past six year and previously played at an amateur level with Tullamore Golf Club.
