Need for bus shelter in Bracknagh village highlighted

Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council Cllr Fitzpatrick has highlighted the need for a bus shelter for Bracknagh village.

The Fianna Fáil representative said he has been in contact with roads section of the council and the area engineer of Edenderry Municipal district in relation to the bus shelter, which was first proposed as part of the overall plan when works were carried out in the village to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists.

A bus shelter is needed to provide a dry place for students waiting collection to go to the secondary school in Rathangan which is the catchment area for Bracknagh, he stressed.

Cllr Fitzpatrick said he has been contacted by parents who drop off their children for the bus seeking to have the shelter installed because they have wait in cars until the vehicle arrives on wet mornings or evenings.

He vowed to make further representations to the council until this shelter is installed as promised.
