Birr says farewell to Fr Antony

Birr said a fond farewell to a hugely popular priest over the last week or so.

Fr Antony Sajeesh, a native of India, had been based in Birr town and parish for the last five years.

In a message on the Brendan Birr Facebook page, Fr Antony said he was very sad to be leaving Birr and the Brendan Pastoral area.

"I am so sad to say that my Missionary Congregation, have asked me to return home to prepare for a new mission," the priest said.

" I have really enjoyed the last five years here and I will miss you all very much.I want to thank you all for everything you have done for me. It has been a wonderful experience to minister among you.

A farewell message in the parish newsletter added that we are all the better because of Antony’s ministry and presence since September 2018.

"He has left us precious memories of his beautiful smile and warm personality. He touched the lives of the young and the young at heart.

"The deep faith and love of our Lady are the corner stones of his spirituality. Our loss will be another parishe's blessing - we wish him well for future days and thank him for his time and presence with us. Is Dia bheatha do shláinte agus siocháin gach lá (May God give you health & peace always).
