Coolderry NS Captains celebrate winning the Allianz Offaly Cumann na mBunscol Autumn Boys Football Group F Final.

Coolderry overcome High Street in Cumann na mBunscol final

Coolderry Central School 5-9 , High Street NS 5-4

Opting to play with the aid of a strong breeze, Coolderry started this final with intent, with their dangerous sharpshooter Mikey Dooley netting two superb goals.

Coolderry extended their lead with three further points from Conor Quinlan and Fionn Morrisey. Playing against a strong breeze, it was not easy for High Street, but they began to settle into the game midway through the first half, when team captain Amber Kelly secured their opening score with a well taken point.

Coolderry responded and made another attempt on goal which was firmly blocked by High Street's full back Meghan Heavin, who battled hard to hold Coolderry back throughout the game. Midfield brother and sister duo, Ella and Oisin Kenny worked instinctively together which led to Oisin Kenny scoring 1-3 in the first half.

Just before half-time, Coolderry struck back with a superb point from Annie-Rose Hogan and goals from James Dardis and Mikey Dooley which had Coolderry finishing the first half strong leading 4-5 to 1-3 at half-time.

Now playing with the aid of the strong breeze High Street burst into the second half with a new found strength. Goalkeeper Noah Feighery made some epic saves in the second half, with Luke Henry and Conor Ferris keeping the Coolderry attack at bay. High Street came back within touching distance of a win with scores from Amber Kelly ( 2-0), Ella Kenny (1-1) and Oisin Kenny (0-2).

Coolderry's Seán Carroll then responded with a goal and a point at a crucial stage to keep Coolderry ahead. High Street continued to press but the Coolderry full back line of Lucas Hudson, James Nolan and Casper Cleary managed to come out with some vital clearances in the dying minutes of the game. The talented Owen Maloney tapped over another point from a crucial free to help secure a well deserved Coolderry win with joint captains Rory Kelly and James Nolan accepting the cup on behalf of their Coolderry team.
