New Irish Rail timetable has added stops in Clara

A new Irish Rail timetable, which came into effect last weekend, includes additional stops in Clara on some evening trains from Dublin.

The timetable became operational from Sunday last, December 10.

On the Dublin to Galway line, the last train from Heuston station, at 19:35 hours on Mondays to Saturdays, now includes an additional stop in Clara.

There is also an added stop in Clara on the 18:45 hours Dublin to Galway service on Sundays.

The 06:25 hours Galway to Heuston (Monday-Saturday) service, meanwhile, includes an additional stop in Ballinasloe.

In addition, a new 21:08 hrs Athlone to Westport (Monday-Saturday) service forms part of the new timetable.

Irish Rail said this service takes "a connection from the 19:35 hours Dublin Heuston to Galway service at Athlone, thus providing a new later last service from Dublin to all stations from Athlone to Westport and Ballina."

This means train users in Tullamore and Clara, by making a connection in Athlone, now have a new, later evening, option for getting to stations on the Westport line.

Minor time changes are being implemented in respect of some other services. Full details of the new timetable are available on the Irish Rail website
