Midlands Anam Cara meeting in Mullingar next week
At this time of year, there is no avoiding the Christmas tunes, the twinkling lights, the hustle and bustle in the shops. However, nights can be long for those bereaved at Christmas. The night of the infamous Toy Show, the night Santa leaves Lapland to bring the magic to millions of children worldwide, these and many more nights can be endless for many….The silence can be deafening.
Anam Cara, the organisation that works to support parents after bereavement, will hold their Midlands meeting in The Mullingar Park Hotel at 7:15pm on Wednesday night of next week, December 13. All bereaved parents from across the Midland counties are welcome, regardless of the age their child died or circumstances of death. There is no need to register, just arrive on the evening at 7:15pm.
Anam Cara is very much aware that, while Christmas brings much joy and laughter to families, it can also bring a lot of sadness. Days can be long for those bereaved, but nights can be longer. and Anam Cara is encouraging people to reach out if they need support, whether it is a friend, a colleague, or a support organisation like themselves.
Many will struggle over the weeks ahead so look out for those who may need a listening ear, be present for them, amongst the madness of the festive season.
This Christmas, Anam Cara is asking everyone to light up their virtual Christmas Tree with a very special “Light of Love” , in memory of a loved one. By donating, you will be helping Anam Caras work with bereaved parents all over Ireland. To get involved, check out their website www.anamcara.ie
