'Poets, rap artists and musicians' invited to apply for €3k Tullamore performing arts project

Offaly County Council is encouraging professional poets, rap artists, musicians and dancers to submit proposals for a €3,300 performing arts project associated with the development of a bandstand at Lloyd Town Park in Tullamore.

The initiative from the council's Arts Offfice is hoping to facilitate "the creation of a new piece of work" by a professional performing artist, or group of artists, which can then be performed at the bandstand in the park.

The new work could take the form of "a poem or short series of poems, a new piece of music or song, or a dance performance".

A maximum budget of €3,300 is available for the project, and the Arts Office said it would be "favourable to proposals that will enable engagement between professional artists, young people (13+) facilitated by youth organisations, youth leaders and/or schools or community groups or arts groups".

The funding for this performing arts commission has been made available through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Outdoor Public Space Scheme 2021.

Applications from artists can be made online, and the closing date is November 23 at 4pm. More details are available on the council's website here.
