Funeral details announced for local man who died in road traffic accident

Funeral details have been announced for the local man who lost his life in a road traffic accident on Saturday evening.

John Stones, Faheeran, Moate, Co. Offaly, passed away on October 14 at Portiuncula Hospital, following an accident.

The accident happened on the R357 Ballinasloe to Shannonbridge Road, at Cloneish, Co. Roscommon, at approximately 5.15pm when the motorbike he was driving was involved in a collision with a car.

He was taken to Ballinasaloe Hospital where he was pronounced deceased later in the evening.

Predeceased by his father Joe and grandfathers Peter and Joe, John is lovingly remembered by his heartbroken mother Marian, sister Katie, brothers Brian and Joseph, sister-in-law Aoife, brother-in-law Brian, nieces Saoirse, Clodagh, Keira and Alesha, nephews Brian Óg and Caeden whom he adored, grandmother Sarah, aunts, uncles, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at his home on Tuesday from 5pm until 8pm, with removal on Wednesday arriving at The Church of the Holy Family, Tubber for Funeral Mass at 12 noon.  Burial afterwards in Kilcurley Cemetery.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Roscommon appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road user who was travelling on this road between the hours of 4.45pm and 5.30pm and has camera footage (including dash-cam), is asked to make this available to Gardaí.
