CNC students enjoy workshop with music maestros
Coláiste Naomh Cormac News
The fifth year music students of Coláiste Naomh Cormac, Kilcormac enjoyed a workshop with clarinetist Deirdre O’Leary and French hornist Cormac Ó hAodáin from Cassiopeia Wind Quintet in Birr Theatre & Arts Centre recently.
The students got to perform an accompaniment to Pavane by Ravel on chime bars, while also working on composing incidental music and developing their improvisation skills.
The workshop was provided by funding from the Arts Council and was a great introduction to senior cycle music for these students.
Meanwhile, Coláiste Naomh Cormac past pupil Niall Mahon (Leaving Cert 2022) has been awarded the JP McManus All-Ireland Scholarship 2023, based on his excellent Leaving Certificate results.
The Kilcormac school has congratulated Niall on his success saying "well done Niall, we here in CNC are very proud of you".
Another past pupil, Conor Troy (Leaving Cert 2023) is wished the best of luck in the FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup this October in Australia.

Senior boys from CNC participated in a pilot research project which aimed to understand males’ perception of female participation in sport and exercise. CNC thanks DCU School of Health and Human Performance members Dr Hannah Goss and Nathan Gavigan for facilitating this.
