Positive Ageing Week to take place in Offaly Libraries next month
Positive Ageing Week (PAW) will be taking place from October 1 until October 7 this year at Offaly Libraries, kindly co-funded by Age Friendly Offaly.
Positive Ageing Week 2023 celebrates ageing and the contribution and agency of older people.
It will carry on the theme of Challenging Ageism - Reframing How We Think, Feel and Act Towards Ageing and Older Persons. This is a socially inclusive event, so everyone can take part.
Offaly Libraries will be celebrating this occasion with the following events throughout October:
* Mindfulness Workshop with Leona McDonnell in Tullamore Library
* Chair Yoga Sessions with Theresa Burns in Birr, Banagher, Clara, Daingean, Edenderry, Ferbane and Kilcormac
* The Gramophone Society will provide some beautiful music to celebrate the older patrons for their continued support and contribution to Offaly Libraries (Tullamore Branch).
* An Intergenerational Session of Music and Song with musicians and singers of all ages will take place in Clara Library on Wednesday, October 4 at 6pm and Kilcormac Library on Thursday, October 19 at 6pm.
* Daingean and Edenderry libraries will host an Intergenerational Mindfulness Colouring session.
* Offaly Libraries will also be hosting coffee mornings in various branches around the county in Banagher, Birr, Clara Ferbane ,Edenderry, Kilcormac and Tullamore.
* Clara Library will host a Coffee Morning on Wednesday, October 25. Climate Action Officer with Offaly Co. Council Aisling Lambe will be in attendance to discuss energy saving tips for the home along with the Offaly Climate Action Plan.
* LOETB Staying Connected Classes will be continuing throughout October. All branches will have a display featuring Age Friendly information for the public to peruse.
