Pilgrim Walk to raise funds for Meals on Wheels

The annual Pilgrim Walk to Clonmacnoise, which is organised by the Knights of St Columbanus in Athlone , will set out from Clonbonny on Pattern Sunday, September 17 next.

All funds raised from this year's walk will go to support the work of Athlone Meals on Wheels.

This excellent servicee currently provides some 150 meals per day to local people, not just in the Athlone urban area, but also in many other areas including Castledaly, Ballinahown, Moate, Ballymore, Drumraney, Tang, Glasson, Drum, Ardkeenan, Brideswell, Curraghboy and Taughmaconnell.

The traditional Pilgrim Walk will commence at 11am and will be followed by Mass at 3pm which will be celebrated by the recently ordained Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise, Paul Connell.

Grand Knight of the Knights of St. Columbanus, Ray Joyce, has urged people to take part in the Pilgrim Walk and support the very worthy local cause of Athlone Meals on Wheels.

Sponsorship cards are now available from members of the Knights of St. Columbanus and from Temple Printing.

All intending participants in the Pilgrim Walk to Clonmacnoise on Sunday, September 17 next, are encouraged to pick up their cards as early as possible.
