New comedy show on immigration set for Tullamore

A new comedy show on immigration featuring three comedians born outside Ireland will take place in John Lee's pub in Tullamore next month.

Three of Ireland's top comedians are coming together to perform a stand up comedy show in every county in Ireland, and it will feature Neil Green (South Africa), Malinda Perera (Sri Lanka) and Lesly Martinez (Venezuela), 'Immigration Is A Joke' is a comedy show you can enjoy equally whether you are Irish or an immigrant.

During this tour the comedians will be discussing living in Ireland from the perspective of an ex pat. Neil and Malinda moved to Ireland in the last three years whereas Lesly has been living here a bit longer. Their comedy styles are witty and lighthearted and audiences are sure to have a great time.

Hailing from Durban in South Africa, Neil has been a fixture on the comedy scene in his home country for over a decade. He has multiple Comedy Central appearances under his belt, most notably as the host of Season 2 of 'Laugh in Your Language.' Neil's one man special 'Last Boss' released in 2020 on national television and major streaming platforms, was noted in GQ Magazine as one of the Top Comedy Specials released that year. He is now based in Dublin and enjoying establishing himself on the Irish comedy scene.

Malinda moved to Europe from Sri Lanka to study IT to make his mother proud while sticking to the universal stereotype but soon found his love for the art of telling jokes on stage. Since performing on stage for the first time in 2016, Malinda has taken the European comedy circuit by storm and now lives in Ireland's capital. His debut solo special 'Not A Drug Dealer' had a sold out run across Europe as he performed the show in 50 cities in 24 countries. Malinda also appeared on RTÉ's sketch comedy series 'No Worries If Not.'

Cork-based Latina comedian from Venezuela, Lesly Martinez will bring her adventures and stories of Irish society, love and the struggle to fit in to the stage. She was the winner of The Ballycotton Comedy Festival G.O.A.T Competition and was a semi finalist of 'Show Me The Funny' 2023. She has performed all around Ireland and internationally. A regular on the Irish comedy circuit, she has supported and performed alongside many well known acts such as Ross Brown, Chris Kent, Mike Morgan and more.

'Immigration Is A Joke' will take place in John Lee's pub in Tullamore on September 22 next. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show will kick off at 8.15pm. Tickets for the gig cost €15 online and €20 on the door.
