Mary's Meals chosen for show charity spot

Mary’s Meals Offaly has been selected for the official charity spot at Tullamore Show 2023.

Each year, the show allocates a single charity. The chosen charity is able to fundraise by various means, whether by bucket collections, raffles or donations. It gives them an opportunity to raise awareness of the successful charity.

Expressiong his gratitude at the selection, Paul Galvin of Mary's Meals Offaly said “Being the nominated Charity at the prestigious Tullamore Show is fantastic for all of us involved in Mary's Meals. A lot of people have never heard of the charity or the great work that it does so this gives us the opportunity to spread the word to over 60,000 people at one event and also, please God, raise funds so that we can keep feeding these unfortunate children.”

Mary's Meals feeds hungry children in 18 of the world's poorest countries at a cost of only €22 for each child per school year or 11 cent per individual nutritious meal,

They also guarantee that at least 93% of all donations go directly to the work of feeding the children and for the past fiveears they have achieved 95%.

Itis a no-frills charity with a simple idea that really works by providing one good meal each day in a place of learning. Children are drawn into the classroom where they not only get fed but also receive an education that could one day free them and their families from the horrible cycle of poverty.

This is only possible as most of the work is carried out by thousands of volunteers and where possible the food is sourced from local farmers in each country.

This gives the small farmers and their families a regular market for their crops and at a fair price.
