Warning over heavy overnight rainfall

Met Eireann has sounded a weather warning for the midlands over the likelihood of heavy rain overnight and into Saturday morning.

The national forecaster issued the yellow warning for rainfall, warning of possible spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

The affected areas include Westmeath, Offaly, Laois, Longford, Carlow, Cavan, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Wexford, and Wicklow.

The warning comes into effect at 11pm tonight and expires at 10am in the morning.
