All hoofs lead to Tullamore Show as horse section details are announced

As preparations continue for the Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock show, at Butterfield estate on Sunday, August 13, details of the popular equine section have been announced.

Like last year, all entries in the equine section will be taken on the day. The number of entries in 2022 was the highest for many years in the section, with the highlight being the arrival of 'Tiger Roll' who went on to win the 'racehorse to riding horse class'.

Another highlight this year will be the 'Glenwood Gold Medal Breeders Challenge' which has a €250 first prize.

This year sees two new classes in the Connemara section, namely the 'Under 16 Ridden Connemara' and the 'Over 16 Ridden Connemara'.

The ever-popular family pony arena will again feature at the show and is sponsored by Joyce's Saddlery. This not only attracts the young people but family members of all ages to cheer them on.

A 'trade town' of hundreds of shops, displays and exhibits will cover the full spectrum of show attendees' needs and interests. From the farming enthusiast to the animal lover and the fashion follower to the competitive counterpart, there really is something for everyone at this year's show.

Trade stands will cover over 80 acres and include farm machinery, agricultural and industrial supplies, garden, home and leisure, food, crafts, tourism and travel, fashion not to mention new products to the market with plenty of surprises.

This year the show launches the 'Sustainable Livestock Village' which will provide a platform for farmers to learn more about practices that can boost the sustainable performance on their farms. 'Sustainable Farmer' awards will also be presented on the day.

A bumper crowd of over 60,000 is expected to attend this year's Tullamore Show.

The entertainment section of the show has numerous attractions on the bandstand, with the Mountbolus Pipe Band performing at the opening ceremony. Local singer Olivia Douglas, and band, will be among the many other musical highlights.

New to the show this year will be the Culinary Food Emporium with chef Adrian Martin and the Neven Maguire giving baking and cooking demonstrations throughout the day.
