Dead Centre aims to put fizz into summer with new lemonade!

The crafty crew at Athlone’s award-winning Dead Centre Brewing are making waves yet again with the launch of a sister soft drinks operation, The Irish Craft Soda Co. The innovative new venture’s flavoursome first release, a standout small-batch handmade Lemonade - amongst the first of its kind to be produced in Ireland - is well and truly set to put the fizz into summer and send taste buds tingling.

Having decided during lockdown to produce a Radler - a German-style beer comprising 50% lemonade and 50% ale, that is for all intents and purposes a shandy - from their brewpub on the banks of the Shannon in Athlone, Dead Centre set about crafting the soda element of the drink. On sampling the lemonade, founder, Liam Tutty, instantly recognised the quality of what his team had created and was sure it would prove to be a sure-fire hit in its own right. And thus, the inspiration for The Irish Craft Soda Co. was born.

Crafted from just four quality all natural components - carbonated water, pure lemon juice, sugar, and citric acid - The Irish Craft Soda Co.’s select list of ingredients may be small, but its zingy new handmade Lemonade certainly delivers big on flavour. And, unlike other sodas, theirs is completely free from nasties like sulphites, preservatives, and flavour or colour enhancers.

The lemonade launch is the first in a long line of standout sodas the company has in the pipeline, with three other year-round core flavours set to be unveiled in the coming months.

In addition, regular limited edition sodas showcasing seasonal and rarely seen ingredients will also be made available throughout the year, replicating what Dead Centre Brewing does with its highly anticipated craft beer releases. Fizzy drinks fans should also keep an eye out for The Irish Craft Soda Co.’s upcoming ‘Sodascriptions’, which will be launched in due course - allowing soda lovers to subscribe to have their favourite ‘Pop Stars’ delivered direct to their doors each week/month.

Founder, Liam Tutty, said: “We're so excited to be getting our lemonade out across the country. It's been a very long passion project and has turned into something that we're really proud of. I'm passionate about craft beer and love the nuances between styles and the regular release of limited edition, or seasonal beers.

"This is something that so far hasn’t been replicated in the soda market in Ireland, so we're happy to be leading the way on that front. We've launched The Irish Craft Soda Co. with our lemonade to start with, but aim to have an additional four flavours of soft drink on shelves by the end of this year. We take the less is more approach. We're not loading our sodas with artificial flavours, colours, or sweeteners. We use natural ingredients for a natural soda. It's lemonade like it should be, plain and simple.”

The Irish Craft Soda Co.’s new small-batch handmade Lemonade is available to purchase in select SuperValu stores across the country as part of the retailer’s latest Food Academy programme, with single 330ml cans retailing at €1.99 each.
