Cowen receives update on enterprise plan for the Midlands

Local Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen recently asked the Minister for Enterprise; Trade and Employment, Simon Coveney, to provide an update on the Midlands Regional Enterprise Plan.

Delivering balanced regional growth is a key priority for Fianna Fáil in Government and this plan seeks to address the challenges unique to the region, and identify and put in place measures to seize the opportunities for the midlands.

In response to Deputy Cowen, the Minister advised that his Department has secured up to €145 million from the European Regional Development Fund to drive implementation of the Regional Enterprise Plans. This funding will support innovative enterprise focused projects across all regions.

The Minister went on to say that he expects the first call of €35 million to be announced in the coming months.
