Offaly good exposure for county on Radio 1 show this weekend

The rich culture and identity of Offaly will be explored on RTÉ Radio 1's The County Measure.

Join writer and broadcaster Vincent Woods in an ode to Offaly on May's Bank Holiday Monday. The County Measure uncovers the vibrant arts, sports, history, heritage and diverse communities of Offaly.

From the volcanic vista of Croghan Hill, the community spirit restoring Daingean's Town Hall to Birr bursting with musical talent - Vincent takes a measure of all that the Faithful county has to offer.

Since the time of Clonmacnoise, the written word has always been important in the land of Uíbh Fhailí. The programme will feature a new and exclusive work from Offaly writer Ian Maleney.

The County Measure is a landmark RTÉ Radio 1 series that explores the identity and communities of Ireland's 32 counties.

The County Measure Offaly will be broadcast on Bank Holiday Monday May 1st at 11 am on RTÉ Radio 1. The series previously visited several counties including Clare, Down, Laois and Wicklow.
