Almost €500k for Offaly farmers under 2022 GLAS - Cowen

Fianna Fáil TD for Offaly, Barry Cowen, has welcomed the commencement of the 2022 Green Low-Carbon Agri-Environmental Scheme (GLAS) balancing payments. Under the balancing payments farmers in Offaly will receive €464,831.

The Green, Low-Carbon, Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS) provides payments to farmers to help tackle climate change, preserve biodiversity, protect habitats and promote environmentally-friendly farming.

Deputy Cowen said, “I’m very pleased to see this balancing payment commencing under the Green Low Carbon Agri Enviromental Scheme. These payments are ahead of schedule and will be a significant bonus for farmers across Offaly.

“The GLAS scheme is a very important payment for farm families in order to support them in implementing measures to tackle climate change and preserve habitats and biodiversity on their farmland. Farmers across Ireland are doing their bit to protect the environment and I want to thank Minister McConalogue for his support of farm families in Offaly.”
