Shane Lowry and caddie 'Bo' Martin to part ways
After a hugely-successful partnership, the highlight of which was an unforgettable six-stroke win at the 2019 Open Championship at Portrush, Offaly golfer Shane Lowry and his caddie, Brian 'Bo' Martin, have decided to part ways.
The amicable split, which was announced last night by his management company, Horizon Sports Management, is believed to have been brewing for some time with sources close to the pair saying their partnership had lost its spark in recent months.
Shane Lowry teamed up with 'Bo' Martin at the Portugal Masters in 2018 and during the almost four and a half years of their partnership, the Clara native enjoyed huge success, not just in becoming Open Champion in 2019 but also winning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in the same year, and the BMW PGA Championship last year with an impeccable bogey-free final round.
Lowry split with his caddie of nine years, Dermot Byrne - who is now the caddy for Leona Maguire - after the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.
He will now need to find a new caddie as quickly as possible given that he is heading into one of the most crucial years of his career with the Ryder Cup due to begin in Rome on September 25 next.
