Offaly YouTuber celebrates 'Thankmas' fundraising success

YouTuber Jacksepticeye, aka Sean McLoughlin, has said he experienced one of the greatest days of his life after raising over $10 million in his annual 'Thankmas' charity fundraiser.

The Cloghan man chose to fundraise for the charity World Central Kitchen this year and managed to surpass the figure raised in 2021 by over $2 million.

‘Thankmas’ is an annual charity livestream event hosted by Sean. This year's ten-hour event started on Saturday, and featured YouTube's most-watched female streamer Rachell 'Valkyrae' Welsh, YouTuber Connor 'CDawgVA,' YouTuber Mark 'Markiplier,' TikTok star Bella Poarch, actor and comedian Jack Black, and chef Nyesha Arrington.

“Today was one of the greatest days of my life. I can’t believe we raised $10 million. I got so emotional, and my heart is so full," he said.

“I mean, it always just blows past my expectations every year. We did like, $4 million, two years ago, and last year was $7.5 million. And the fact now that we’ve been passed; I didn’t think we’d ever pass that, ever. That’ll never happen. And now, here we are,” added Sean on Saturday.

The popular YouTuber recently appeared on the Late Late Show to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his YouTube channel. Sean, now based in Brighton, attended college in Athlone IT and was living in the town when his videos began achieving a massive global reach in the mid-2010s. He has almost 29 million subscribers on YouTube.

'Thankmas' raised over $12.4million for important causes during the fundraiser the past two years. World Central Kitchen is a nonprofit organisation, founded in 2010, which provides fresh meals in response to crises. WCK has provided over 200 million meals around the world to people impacted by natural disasters, humanitarian disasters and other major crises.
