Birr Fine Gael District holds well-attended AGM

A wide range of issues were discussed at the AGM of the Birr Fine Gael District, which took place in Dooley's Hotel on Thursday night last, November 10.

There was a good turnout despite the poor weather on the evening, which included former TD for Laois Offaly Thomas Enright, former Councillor Percy Clendennen and local Councillor John Clendennen.

Cllr Clendennen updated the meeting on a number of recent local initiatives including details of how to avail of funding from the Department of Rural Affairs.

Budget 2022 was also discussed and there was general agreement among the Fine Gael members present that it was well received despite the current economic challenges. Cllr Clendennen outlined details of a recent Budget Roadshow held in Tullamore, which was attended by Minister Paschal Donoghue along with several local business owners who were afforded the opportunity to provide their feedback on the budget.

A number of upcoming events were discussed including the Fine Gael Ard Fheis, which takes place in Athlone this Saturday, November 19. There was also a discussion about the Annual Fine Gael Super Draw with tickets available to purchase online at https://www.finegael.ie/superdraw-2022/

Arrangements were agreed to attend the upcoming Ard Fheis, with new members welcome to attend and advised to contact Cllr John Clendennen through any social media channel for more information.
