Three arrests after €4,000 worth of drugs seized in Offaly

Gardai have seized over €4,000 worth of drugs and arrested three people following an operation yesterday (Thursday) which involved 13 homes being searched in Tullamore, Clara and Kilcormac.

A 'day of action' into the sale and supply of drugs in the Midlands was carried out by Gardaí from the Tullamore District Detective Unit, the District Drugs Unit, and uniformed Gardaí from Birr and Portlaoise Garda stations.

The searches at the 13 homes in the county resulted in various quantities of suspected cannabis herb and cocaine being seized.

The drugs had an approximate street value totalling over €4,000.

During the course of the operation three men, one aged in his late teens and two in their early 40s, were arrested and detained in Birr Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

All three have since been charged and are due to appear before Tullamore District Court at a later date.

Gardai said investigations into the matter were ongoing.
