A month full of funny women this September at Birr Theatre!

Marian Keyes, Tara Flynn and Deirdre O’Kane are just some of the names comedy fans can expect to see this September in Birr.

The Midlands Theatre is launching "A month of funny women" a regular comedy gig to highlight strong and funny women - both on stage AND in the audience!

Though Birr Theatre has a long tradition of hosting comedy nights, this September patrons can be guaranteed some very special nights as the team behind the Theatre have put together a programme to delight one and all.

“To come together and experience the best in Irish comedy and shared laughter while celebrating women is now more important than ever" said Birr Theatre Manager, Emma Nee Haslam "the audience has been hit by Covid and the various lockdowns over the past two years but, as we bring the industry's biggest and brightest female stars to our town, we want to entice our audience to return to the Theatre, which is why we have put on this amazing line-up of talented artists."

Marian Keyes and Tara Flynn will kick start the Women in Comedy series in Birr Theatre with a live version of their ever so popular podcast “Now you’re asking” on Thursday, September 8. They will be followed every Thursday by other funny women including:

• Anne Gildea (founder member and writer/performer with critically acclaimed Irish musical-comedy trio The Nualas) ,

• Deirdre O’Kane who’s new show “Demented” is receiving country wide praise.

• Eilish O’Caroll (of Mrs. Brown's Boys fame)

• Julie Jay, Tommy Tiernan’s favourite Irish comedian.
