Vigil in memory of Sligo men to be held in Tullamore

Vigils are to be held in Tullamore and Portlaoise tomorrow, Friday, in memory of Michael Snee and Aidan Moffitt.

Both men were found dead in Sligo. Michael Snee, 58, was found dead at a private residence at Connaughton Road, Sligo on Tuesday. He had been subject of a serious physical assault and had suffered significant injuries.

Previously on Monday, April 11, at approximately 8.30pm the body of Aidan Moffitt, 42 years, was found at a private residence at Cartron Heights, Sligo. Aidan had also been the subject of a serious physical assault and had suffered significant injuries.

A spokesperson for the Midlands LGBT+ Project said the local LGBT+ community had been shaken to hear of the brutal murders in Sligo.

Midlands LGBT+ Project will hold a vigil in both Tullamore and Portlaoise at 6pm.

The Tullamore vigil is to be held at O'Connor Square at 6pm, whilst the Portlaoise event will take place at the County Hall Plaza.

Organisers have urged people to attend, stating that the Midlands LGBT+ community now needs everyone's allyship.
