Residents of Edenderry estate vote to ask council to take charge

On Monday, Cllr Mark Hackett met with Krzysztof Szczepanski, representing the Clonmullen Hall residents, at Offaly County Council buildings and together they handed over 60 signatures to the council management team. These signatures of residents and owners of Clonmullen Hall Estate requested that Offaly County Council takes the estate in charge as allowed for under Local Government legislation.

The vote was carried out by the Management Company of the estate and all respondents were in favour.

Cllr Mark Hackett said “This is a case of the people have spoken and I call on Offaly County Council to act sooner than later and take Clonmullen Hall in charge. The current situation, with significant road subsidence, is causing anguish and practical problems for residents. I am bringing a motion to the next council meeting to amend the current ‘taking in charge’ policy. In my view we will make this happen one way or another."
