Some 27 Offaly projects to benefit from heritage funding

Some 27 projects in Offaly are to benefit from a total of some €126,000 funding under a key heritage initiative

It comes as part of €4m national funding allocation through the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) administered by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan today announced that 512 heritage projects across every county in the country will benefit.

The projects to receive in Offaly are:

Offaly Minister of State Pippa Hackett said: “I’m delighted to see my Green Party colleague Minister Malcolm Noonan announcing this funding today,” she said. “Offaly has been successful in an astounding 27 funding applications. The money will go towards thatching, lime rendering, joinery repair, and masonry stabilisation. We have fine old buildings in Offaly that deserve to be preserved and protected. In doing so we are also keeping some of the old skills alive. ”
