Kenny ready to get Rockin' and Rollin' again
With the whole country biting at the bit to get back to life as we knew it, Colin Kenny's brand new single could hardly be better timed.
'Rockin' and Rollin'' is another cracker from the pen of the Banagher man, and it's not hard to imagine listeners dancing around the kitchen or the sitting room as they enjoy this nostalgia-tinged floorfiller.
And while Rockin' and Rollin' undoubtedly takes the listener on a trip down memory lane to days of gold from yesteryear, it's by no means a song set in the past. The latest cut taken from the Borrisokane based barber's official debut album, 'Annie', it's a song that's very much of the moment and for the moment too, as the man known as 'the singing barber' explains:
"I've always felt that there are some moments we can enjoy as memories while at the very same time, making more memories of the exact same kind in the present moment.
"And music, probably more often than anything else in life, is what usually makes these kinds of moments possible. When I was writing 'Rockin' And Rollin', that's the scene I was picturing in my mind...a big crowd of people, everyone happy as can be, dancing away, and singing about a time they'd done all of that before as well. Happy in the moment, and happy in a memory, all at the same time, you could say."
Rockin' and Rollin' is the follow-up to the singer/songwriter's June release, 'You've Got That Something', a co-write with Anthony Sullivan, and also featured on his album, Annie.
That track has proved to be one of Kenny's most successful to date, racking up in excess of 400 spins at radio, and over a million impacts. He's hoping for a similar reaction to his new single, not least of all because - at last - he might soon be in a position to start performing both in front of 'live' audiences.
"I've been very lucky since I started recording and releasing my own songs in that the support I've received from fans has been fantastic.
"People's generosity sometimes, in all kinds of ways, has been almost overwhelming at times. I'm extremely grateful for it, and it's not something I'll ever take for granted.
"Luckily, before 2019 came along, I've had opportunities to sing some of my songs for people. And as any songwriter will tell you, the round of applause you hear for your own song always sounds that much sweeter!
"So I'm definitely looking forward to the chance to start playing songs like 'You've Got That Something' and 'Rockin' And Rollin' for people too."
Rockin' and Rollin', the brand new single from Colin Kenny, will be available on all platforms from Friday, 1 October. The single is now available to request from radio stations nationwide. You can follow Colin on Facebook at Colin Kenny Music.
