Offaly podcasters win Digital Support Award at Community Recognition Awards
Two former Oaklands Community School students have been awarded the Digital Support Awards at the Offaly Community Recognition Awards for their podcast, ‘Awfully Irish Podcast.’
Hosted by Offaly County Council in partnership with Offaly Independent, the awards aim to acknowledge the outstanding community efforts that individuals and groups have delivered in Offaly over the past year.
During lockdown Gerard Eady from Edenderry and Thomas McAuliffe from Rhode, who were both Leaving Cert students at the time, set up the podcast to entertain people and give them a range of topics and stars to listen to while people were stuck at home due to Covid restrictions.
They have had celebrities and athletes on from various backgrounds including paleontologist Jack Horner, the Cork Roof Top Farmer another and UFC'S veteran voice of the Octogon Bruce Buffer.
They have also run charity streaming events for Macmillan House and St. James hospital.
The runner up for the award was Ballycommon Telework and Training Centre.
