New walk-in Covid test centre to open in Tullamore this week
As part of their continued roll-out of walk-in Covid-19 test centres around the country, the HSE are to open a new walk-in, no appointment necessary, test centre in Tullamore on Wednesday of this week, April 28.
The Centre, which will operate from 9.30am until 4.30pm daily for one week initially, will be located alongside the existing GP referral Covid-19 testing service at Clonminch, at the Portlaoise Roundabout exit off the bypass.
This is the second time in just over a month that the HSE have opened a walk-in Covid-19 test centre in Tullamore, with the previous centre operating from the car park of the Aura Leisure Centre in Cloncollig from March 24 to 31 last.
To attend at the Tullamore Covid-19 walk-in test centre this week you do not need to have a referral from your GP, but you must be aged 16 years or over, live in the same area as the test centre and have not tested positive for Covid-19 in the past six months.
Tests are limited to one test per person, and anyone wishing to seek a repeat test is asked to contact their local GP.
All those attending the Tullamore centre must bring photo ID and provide a mobile phone number where they can be contacted with the results of their test.
The HSE have reiterated that the walk-in test centres around the country are specifically for people who are not displaying any symptoms associated with Covid-19 and are designed to identify asymptomatic individuals and to allow for the further identification and understanding of any variants of concern within specific communities.
Anyone displaying the symptoms of Covid-19 in the Tullamore area is still asked to contact their GP who will refer them for a Covid test at the existing GP referral testing centre at Clonminch which has been in operation since the middle of last year.
