Community field and centre project launched
It is exciting times for the Horseleap/Streamstown community with the launch of the first phase of the development plan for the Community Field and Centre planned over the next five to seven years.
The long-proposed development of the community field commences this Spring and the community is looking for your support to make the dream become a reality.
The community has secured €145,000 in funding for Phase 1 of the development which will comprise of the groundworks and installation of a newly expanded playing pitch for all field games and an extended community walking track on the boundary of the facility.
Horseleap/Streamstown Community Association said the total cost of Phase 1 will be in the region of €200,000.
Funding is being provided through Westmeath Leader. The full development will take place in three major Phases over a seven to ten year period.
As stated, Phase 1 comprises of the development of the pitch and walking track. Phase 2 (planned for 2024/25) will see a redeveloped and extended Community Centre and Phase 3 (planned for 2026/2027) will see the landscaping and installation of completed lighting and final embellishment of the facility which will serve our community well into the future.
To draw down the grant and bridging finance the community requires €15,000 in minimum funding before draw down. The past year has seen numerous lockdowns where fundraising has been decimated. This draw will help build momentum to a brighter future! The draw will take place on Sunday 4th April 2021. The prize fund is €7,000 with 1st Prize of €5,000!
Ticket numbers will be capped to a maximum of 300 tickets. Think of it, Forty years ago three was no field, no community centre and no organisations in the area. Now there is e a fine Community Centre which is almost 30 years old and is in need of refurbishment and a field that is overstretched in use in normal times. Organisers are hoping the wider community will help us develop and modernise our community facility into something we can all be very proud of.
Tickets are on sale online and through committee members so people do have the option of purchasing at home from their phone, tablet or laptop or traditionally via paper ticket. The choice is open to all. The draw is on Easter Sunday which is April 4, 2021.
