HerStory to light up Birr Castle
Birr Castle is among the landmarks to be illuminated this Sunday, January 31, and Monday, February 1, to mark St Brigid’s Day.
The Herstory Light Show will illuminate iconic landmarks across Ireland on Sunday and Monday (February 1) in honour of the Mother and Baby Homes victims; heroines and heroes of the pandemic, Black Lives Matter, and more.
Herstory is calling on the Irish public and the diaspora to sign the petition to make Brigid’s Day a national holiday and celebrate Ireland’s triple goddess and matron, St Brigid, equally to St Patrick.
The image above shows what to expect from the light show, which Melanie Lynch, founder and CEO of Herstory, said “will lift Ireland’s spirits and celebrate the start of Spring and the return of the light”.
Herstory partnered with RTÉ, Underground Films, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and the BAI on the Herstory 20/20 Project; featuring a TV Series, animation project, International Herstory Light Festival, podcast series, schools workshops, and a campaign to make Brigid’s Day a national holiday. www.rte.ie/herstory #RTEherstory
