Another rugby award for Tullamore's Conroy

Tullamore's Jordan Conroy was named Ireland Sevens Player of the Year in the recently announced Guinness Rugby Writers’ Awards.

This is the second season in succession that the Tullamore native has won this highly coveted accolade.

Conroy was the top try scorer with 28 touchdowns in the HSBC World Series and he was named in the World Series Dream Team.

This latest award caps off a tremendous year for the speedy winger.

Jordan produced several impressive displays for Athlone outfit Buccaneers in the All-Ireland League, before his Sevens commitments with Ireland led to his club career taking a back seat.

Meanwhile, Ballinasloe's Béibhinn Parsons was chosen as Women’s Player of the Year, by virtue of the sensational impact she made while balancing her studies in secondary school last year.
