Tullamore business raises funds for Offaly Down Syndrome

International Down Syndrome Awareness Month is celebrated every year during the month of October, and this year, The Strength and Conditioning Centre in Tullamore teamed up with Offaly Down Syndrome Association to celebrate and raise funds for the charity.

Their mission, to introduce the ODS Plank Challenge to the people of Offaly. For a donation of just €5.00, you were invited to plank for as long as you could to try and beat the time set by your own circle of friends. The plank is an isometric core strength exercise that involves maintaining a position similar to a push-up for the maximum possible time.

After a full month of fund-raising, a massive €1,733.00 was raised, which will go towards providing more essential therapies for our members.

Robbie Donnelly, Chairman of Offaly Down Syndrome commented that “Having support from such a great local company really is how Offaly Down Syndrome continues to support our own members.”

Padraic Martin, joint owner of The Strength and Conditioning Centre Tullamore said “it’s important for us to team up with a local charity that promotes itself in such a positive way, and that also provides services for every single member.”

The Strength and Conditioning Centre has recently had to close it’s doors due to restrictions with the Covid 19 pandemic, but is looking forward to having them open once again as restrictions are lifted, and invites everyone to come join the gym to fulfil your 2021 new years resolutions.
