'Brisk' interest in Birr Technology Centre sale
Birr Technology Centre is currently on the market, with the selling agent reporting "brisk" interest in the Brendan Street development.
The office park, consisting of two detached buildings which are primarily in office use, is currently part of the Shannon Commercial Properties group.
It's being sold by public tender, with bids scheduled to be submitted by Friday next, October 30. Andrew Carberry, of the selling agent, Power Property, said a decision would be made early next week on whether or not the current deadline would be extended as a result of the Level 5 lockdown.
Speaking to the Offaly Independent yesterday (Thursday), Mr Carberry said a number of viewings of the centre had already taken place.
"There has been a brisk response to the advertising of the property. Quite a number of people have requested tender packs, so I'd be hopeful that there will be a reasonable response in terms of tenders," he said.
The centre has an occupancy rate of approximately 65% at present. It produces a rent of €87,900 per annum, with occupiers including the OPW, Teagasc, Build 4 Less and Intellicom.
Birr Technology Centre is situated on a 0.34 Ha (0.84 Acre) site. The two buildings consist of the technology centre itself, which is a modern three-storey office building, and the Brendan Street Enterprise Centre.
The enterprise centre is a detached ground floor commercial building with seven enterprise units, three of which are occupied by the Offaly County Development Board, while the other four are currently vacant.
The technology centre building is a former mill which underwent a complete restoration and rebuild in 2003. There are 29 car parking spaces to the front of the technology centre, and 13 parking spaces in front of the enterprise centre.
The guide price for the centre is available on application from Power Property.
