OFFline Film Festival gives update on plans for 2020 event

The organisers of the OFFline Film Festival in Birr have announced that they are continuing to plan ahead for this year's event in October.

In a post on their website today, the organisers said: “As the Covid_19 restrictions are gradually lifted, we know that a Film Festival must be more than watching streamed content remotely as we currently are during quarantine. We are exploring creative ways to realize our festival as a physical experience. With this in mind we are planning ahead for the 11th OFFline Film Festival this October.”

They added: "We hope to bring you exciting news soon about this year's festival."

They also confirmed that the festival's animation residency will go ahead, although at a later date.

Up to three animators will be residing in Birr for up to six months with accommodation, a stipend and studio space with industry standard software and hardware provided. The animators will receive ongoing mentoring, as well as visual and audio post-production services, from award-winning digital studio Piranha Bar. This exciting opportunity is open to animators working individually, or to dynamic duos (or even trios!) planning to collaborate on a project.

Funded by The Trench Trust and Offaly County Council, the OFFline Film Festival Animation Residency is an annual opportunity for animators to create and showcase their work to an audience of filmmakers and film fans.

Applications are now open.
