Plans for boardwalk at Ferbane bog
Fitness enthusiasts in the Ferbane area could soon be walking along a 657m timber boardwalk which is earmarked for the Ferbane Bog special area of conservation.
According to a planning application notice from Offaly County Council, the Minister for Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht intends to apply for planning permission for an amenity provision development at Ferbane bog.
The development will consist of a 657m timber boardwalk, 120m gravel access path, post and rail boundary fencing, information signage, 25m parking bay, a standard street lighting pole and all associated works.
The Department intend to lodge a Natura Impact Statement along with the planning application.
Offaly County Council currently operate a similar boardwalk facility on Clara bog, which is widely used by the general public and visitors to the area.
