Derrinlough Briquette Factory focus of new exhibition

Derrinlough Briquette Factory is the focus of new photographic exhibition by James Fraher in Tullamore.

All are welcome to come and view the first exhibition of 2020 in Áras an Chontae, Tullamore throughout the month of February.

Photographer James Fraher has documented the dramatic industrial complex at Derrinlough Briquette Factory in a series of black and white photos. A selection is on display in the attrium of the headquarters of Offaly County Council.

The project was a collaboration between James Fraher and the team at Derrinlough Briquette Factory.  Later this year a book of photos which includes explanatory notes by Shift Foreman Jimmy Shortt will be launched.

Derrinlough Briquette Factory is situated on the Cloghan to Birr Road. It was built in 1959 and is one of the oldest briquette factories in Ireland.

The photographic exhibition will be on show for the month of February.

This project has been supported by Creative Ireland.
