Lough Boora's 'Big Hello!'
Offaly County Council have organised ‘The Big Hello!’ at Lough Boora Discovery Park on May 5 from 11-4pm.
Last September, the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Mr Michael Ring TD, announced the launch of a National Community Event, to be held for the first time over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 2019.
The event is a celebration of the great spirit of community that exists across the country and an effort to help people who share communities come together, get to know each other and deepen the sense of community in their area. It will bring people together for a day of fun activities, music, food and games!
Visitors can have a go at Tug of War, Wellie Throwing or test their stamina with the Skipping Challenge. The children will enjoy some face-painting, arts and crafts and much more!
Local musicians Paddy Buckley, Diarmuid Guinan and Luz Corrigan will provide entertainment alongside Ballyboy Comhaltas at the Pavillion. Workshops will include Junk
Drumming, drawing inspired by nature and a basket weaving demonstration.
Local food producers and vendors will be setting up stall to tempt the taste buds! Entry is free and all are welcome!
There are many wonderful communities coming together all over the county to celebrate ‘The Big Hello’ on the May Bank Holiday Weekend, so be sure to come along to your local community event or come visit Lough Boora for ‘The Big Hello’.
