Edenderry girl honoured by Dublin Lord Mayor
An Edenderry school girl was recently honoured by the Lord Mayor of Dublin for her charity work with the city's homeless.
Lexie Delaney was invited to the Mansion House by Dublin Lord Mayor Niall Ring, who wanted to recognise her charity work with the homeless over the last two years. During her time with the Lord Mayor she also managed to teach him a few Irish dancing moves. A fourth class student at Scoil Bhride, Lexie began her charity work when she was a seven year old after seeing a homeless teenager on Dublin’s Grafton Street while shopping with her parents.
Since then she has campaigned tirelessly on behalf of the homeless – through charities such as Inner City Helping Homeless and the Ken Smollen Food Appeal – and collected thousands of items for those in need.
In October last year she received the Young Fundraiser of the Year Award at the The Woman’s Way and Pharmaton Children’s Awards.
