Ever fancied being a movie extra?

Well, now is your chance! Extras are wanted in the Tullamore area for the filming of a new feature 'Aretha' featuring comedian Neil Delamere from Monday, January 28 to Thursday, January 31 inclusive.

While the production company stress it is a low budget production, therefore there will be no payment for extras who volunteer their time, there will be a chance to be part of a quality production that will be a credit to Tullamore and Offaly! There's also an opportunity to see how the film making sector works and maybe even, catch a glimpse of yourself on the big screen!

Dave Thomas, originally from Dublin and now living in Arklow, was this year's recipient of the €10,000 Film Offaly Bursary for his screenplay 'Aretha,' which follows the story of an 18-year old girl with Down Syndrome as she gets her first job.

The director previously told the Offaly Independent that inspiration for the story came from his own experiences with a disability he has with his legs.

"I was rejected many times growing up when it came to jobs and opportunities because of my disability, and it's frustrating. There's a perception that you can't do certain things, but I know I can. You're constantly trying to prove that.

"So Aretha is a young girl starting out in adulthood, but she faces unique challenges and difficulties because she has Down Syndrome. She's leaving childhood and entering the big, bad working world, and we follow her on her journey”
